Seven private jets ready to take to the skies
Business jets are constantly improving. For every commercial jet, there is a private version that includes every comfort for the traveler. This year, Gulfstream and Bombardier are planning to debut their fastest and longest-range private jets , while HondaJet is preparing a concept designed to fly nonstop across the United States and between continents.
Meanwhile, Airbus Corporate Jets and Dassault plan to deliver ultra-long-range jets that will serve as giant luxury beacons in 2025. The new Beechcraft Denali turboprop , though smaller, is also designed with a jet-like interior. Here are seven private jets ready to take to the skies.
Gulfstream G700
Gulfstream ’s new flagship , which is expected to enter service in late 2023, represents a breakthrough for the business jet manufacturer. It is the first of a new generation of business jets, which will stand out for their greater range, speed and larger, more comfortable interiors. The G700 will have a range of 7,500 nautical miles , a top speed of Mach 0.925 and up to five living spaces that can include a rear bedroom.
Its 20 oversized windows set the standard for natural light, while an onboard lighting system simulates sunlight to minimize jet lag . The cabin can accommodate up to 19 passengers . New ergonomic seats, custom fabrics and intuitive, tactile entertainment centers are part of the G700’s DNA.
Private Jets: Airbus ACJ220
The $82 million Airbus ACJ220 transforms the A220 into a private jet with six large VIP areas for up to 19 passengers, which Airbus says is three times the interior space of large-cabin private jets. The A220 can seat up to 135 passengers , so the lucky few who board the business liner will have more than enough room to move around.
More like a penthouse than a plane, the extra-large business jet features a fully equipped galley, a master bedroom with a private bath and steam shower, and a conference room with a 55-inch flat-screen monitor. In total, the ACJ220 has 8,000 square feet of floor space, more than any other business jet. With a range of 5,650 miles, the ACJ 220 can fly for more than 12 hours, connecting cities like Cairo and Cape Town or Hong Kong and Honolulu.
Bombardier Global 8000
Due in 2025 as Bombardier’s new flagship model, the $78 million Global 8000 is expected to have a top speed of Mach 0.94. The jet’s 8,000-mile range is designed for trips between major cities like Dubai and Houston, Singapore and Los Angeles, or London and Perth, according to the company. Competing with the Gulfstream G700 and Dassault Falcon 10X, the 8000 can seat up to 19 passengers in a variety of configurations.
Its ergonomic, swiveling Nuage seats aim to reduce lumbar pressure with the industry’s first zero-gravity seating position. Hospital-grade air filtration and an optional 40-inch 4K surround sound system enhance comfort. The jet uses Bombardier’s Vision cockpit with four large avionics screens, multiple display and monitoring systems, and the latest scanning and navigation technology.
Gulfstream G800
With first deliveries scheduled for late 2023, the Gulfstream G800 ultralong private jet aims to be the fastest and longest-lived aircraft, with a range of 8,000 nautical miles. The $72 million jet can accommodate up to 19 passengers or 10 people in four living areas. It can also be configured with three living areas and a crew compartment. It also features front and rear lavatories and a plasma ionization purification system to kill airborne bacteria.
Onboard technologies include the Gulfstream Symmetry Flight Deck , featuring active control sidesticks linked with 10 touch-screen displays to improve pilot visibility. Powered by high-thrust Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines , the G800 improves fuel efficiency with the ability to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), as well as a predictive landing system.
Private jets, Dassault Falcon 10X
Due in 2025, Dassault ’s new flagship ultralight jet promises to be the company’s largest, as well as the largest purpose-built business jet on the market. Dassault says it has a range of about 7,500 miles, enough to fly non-stop between Los Angeles and Sydney. The Falcon 10X also boasts a number of other firsts, most notably the first-ever use of Rolls-Royce Pearl 10X high-thrust engines, the largest in the Pearl series.
The jet, which can be configured with four living areas plus a bedroom with a private bathroom and full shower, features 38 windows, more than any other Falcon, to provide panoramic views. The company says the jet’s advanced air filtration system will be 10 times more efficient than most office buildings and comparable to that of hospitals.
Honda Jet 2600
Honda ’s latest concept aims to be the world’s first light jet capable of flying nonstop across the United States and between continents. With 11 seats, the $12 million HondaJet 2600 will be larger, faster and have a greater range (2,625 nautical miles) than Honda’s very light jet, the VLJ HondaJet HA-420. Autothrottle and autobreak technology could make it the first transcontinental jet operated by a single pilot.
Although the cabin is smaller than midsize aircraft used for international travel, it can accommodate a bed in the rear. Three modular layouts feature 180-degree swivel seats and reclining footrests. Honda says the jet is up to 20 percent more fuel efficient than typical light jets, with more than 40 percent more fuel efficient than a midsize jet.
Private Jets, Beechcraft Denali
While not technically a jet, the Beechcraft Denali ’s cabin could rival many light aircraft. Expected to enter service in 2024, the model seats eight to 11 passengers in a luxurious interior that’s the largest in its class. The Denali is powered by a 1,300-horsepower GE engine, with a range of 1,600 miles and a speed of up to 328 miles per hour. The glass cockpit, equipped with a Garmin 3000, is a differentiator for pilots, while passengers will appreciate the large windows and executive-style seating.
